Lake Tondano located in Minahasa regency, North Sulawesi (Sulawesi), threatened shallow or drought, lack of government response to the environment and society.
"People seem less serious handling problems in Lake Tondano that could result in decreased water flow significantly," said Head of Watershed Pengelolah (BP-DAS) Tondano, widiasmoro Sigit, in Manado, Wednesday (3/2/2010).
According to him, each year the lake's water flow has fallen by about 40 to 50 centimeters (cm) and can dry 15 to 20 years.
Lake Tondano conditions exacerbated by the threat of global warming, lack of reforestation, increased community activities, illegal logging, fires, forest conversion, mining category C which resulted in erosion and sedimentation.
"BP DAS Tondano deal only in the flow of the river from Lake Tondano, but was concerned with the condition that the current lake happening degradation," he said.
As a result of environmental degradation in the lake, the depth of the lake to about 20 meters from the surface, it padahala in 1934 reached 40 meters, while in 1983 approximately 27 meters.
Members of Parliament admitted Flammable Kandouw Steven concerned and hope that local governments re-greening coastal lake.
According to him, Lake Tondano has many benefits for human life, such as supplying clean water to the Water Supply Company in Minahasa, North Minahasa and the city of Manado, a freshwater fish culture media, power generation and Tonsea Tanggari and tourism.
